UAE: Pre-marital genetic testing to be mandatory for all citizens from early January 2025

Starting January 2025, pre-marital genetic testing will be mandatory for all UAE citizens intending to marry, as part of the pre-marital screening program. This initiative, approved by the Emirates Genome Council during the national government's annual meetings, aims to identify genetic diseases and facilitate early medical intervention. It is part of a broader strategy to create a unified national genetic database, supporting sustainable healthcare development in line with UAE’s Centennial Vision 2071.
