Many couples prefer simple weddings to grand weddings

Weddings have tripled in the past two years, surpassing the number held in 2019

According to a spokesperson for the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), many couples getting married in Dubai are now opting for more intimate and personal weddings with just 50 to 100 guests.

"There is a growing demand for smaller weddings, from 50 to 100 guests," said Leila Sohail, managing director of strategic alliances and partnerships at DET. Other trends emerging in this segment are how couples and planners are looking for more eco-conscious ways to consume weddings.

He went on to say that couples are also increasingly using artificial intelligence (AI) in their weddings. "In the wedding sector we are seeing an increasing use of new technologies such as using artificial intelligence to write wedding cards and create digital portraits that look different from traditional photos and look great on social media," he said.
