Abu Dhabi Makes Major Mobility Investment Leap in 2024

In 2024, Abu Dhabi made a significant leap in transport infrastructure development with over 90 million bus trips, 168,000 maritime passengers, and 28 million airport travelers recorded. Public transport usage rose by 45% compared to 2019, driven by the implementation of unified fare systems, enhanced service networks, and new tram-like buses covering 27 km. The city’s airports saw a 33.5% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers, reaching 13.9 million in the first half of 2024. Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi’s Green Bus Programme, utilizing hydrogen and electric technologies, won the 2024 Sustainability Innovation Award, reinforcing the city’s commitment to smart, sustainable mobility.
