New law to regulate medical products in UAE: Up to Dh1 million fine for violators
The UAE Government has introduced a Federal Decree Law to regulate medical products, the pharmacy profession, and pharmaceutical establishments. Penalties include fines of up to Dh1 million for establishments and Dh500,000 for practitioners, as well as licence suspension or cancellation. The law aims to secure the pharmaceutical sector by overseeing the development, distribution, and safe disposal of medical products. It also fosters innovation, regulates marketing authorizations, and ensures sector-wide coordination. Covered products include drugs, medical devices, cosmetics, and supplements, while the law applies to various pharmaceutical establishments and biobanks, including those in free zones.
