Teen who created affordable soap to treat skin cancer set to get Zayed Award

Heman Bekele, a 15-year-old inventor, has created affordable soap to treat skin cancer, gaining recognition and receiving the $1 million Zayed Award for Human Fraternity. Bekele’s soap, developed using imidazoquinoline, shows promising results in early tests, though clinical approval is still a long process. Along with Bekele, World Central Kitchen (WCK), an organization feeding crisis victims, was also honored. Bekele plans to use the award funds to launch the Heman Foundation and work toward building accessible hospitals in Ethiopia.
