UAE airlines may have to pay up to Dh500 per kg for lost luggage
A passenger traveling from Europe to Dubai reported their luggage, containing valuables worth Dh50,000, was left behind at London airport due to airline negligence. According to Article 359 of the UAE Commercial Transactions Law, airlines are liable to compensate up to Dh500 per kilogram for lost luggage unless a higher value was declared and agreed upon. Passengers can file complaints with the airline, escalate to the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, or pursue civil claims in court based on the ticket’s terms or jurisdictional provisions.
