UAE: Dh100,000 fine for selling defective cars; buyers can take legal action

A Khaleej Times reader raised concerns about purchasing a defective secondhand car. UAE consumer protection laws mandate sellers to provide accurate product details and prohibit misleading advertisements. Federal Law No. 15 of 2020 and its amendments highlight sellers' obligations, including disclosing the condition of secondhand goods. If a seller fails to meet these requirements, buyers can file complaints and seek compensation for damages. Penalties for selling defective goods can reach Dh100,000.
